A partnership between the NRF Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America that began with five pilot locations offering RISE Up Retail Industry Fundamentals training has expanded to include access to the course at Boys & Girls Club locations nationwide.

“The NRF Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America have partnered together to help students acquire the skills needed to land a job in retail and to advance into promising careers,” NRF Foundation RISE Up Customer Engagement Manager Barbara Collins says. “One of the things that we love about the Boys & Girls Clubs is that they're for advancing their students and making sure they're equipped with the resources they need.”

The original locations for this partnership – and the companies providing support for each – are:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of West San Gabriel Valley and American Express
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and American Express
  • Children’s Aid NYC (an organization that houses a Boys & Girls Clubs program) and PVH Corp.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and Macy’s, Inc.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and Kohl’s

The locations have implemented the NRF Foundation’s RISE Up Retail Industry Fundamentals training program and provided exciting opportunities for their club members to learn more about life-changing careers in retail with guest speakers, visits to stores and more. Watch the video below to see how the training is making a difference at the five pilot clubs:

“We met professionals that spoke to us about the retail industry and how they started from a really small position, and they ended up getting a really big one,” says Janeliz V., one of the hundreds of students who have completed NRF Foundation RISE Up training at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “It's really inspiring to see how much you could do in such an industry.”

This innovative partnership between retail employers looking for talent, the NRF Foundation and its award-winning RISE Up training and 4,800 Boys & Girls Clubs of America locations across the country is helping young people find jobs and explore careers. Now, thanks to the NRF Foundation, when retailers are ready to partner with their local Boys & Girls Club location, they have access to high-quality, turn-key curriculum. NRF Foundation RISE Up training allows the retailer to focus on connecting students to the retailer’s brand, introducing their roles, and showcasing their opportunities.
